Our entire family loves going to the new museum. We're proud to have this is in our hometown and eager to support it in the coming years. This is Cleveland -- this is what we always wanted for our city and this is what Cleveland's kids and families have deserved.
Everything is interactive and geared towards encouraging kids of all ages to explore and experiment. My two-year-old is ecstatic with every visit to the Wonder Lab, where he's amazed by the cause and effect of sending balls down a ramp and watching streams of water shoot them into the air. Meanwhile, my six-year-old daughter is just as busy constructing complex structures to manipulate water in all sorts of fascinating ways.
Had a great time taking my two children (7 & 10). The exhibits were so thoughtfully created - both fun and look great. Fun for adults too. The mansion itself is a really cool historical building worth seeing. The upstairs miniature doll houses were really interesting and meticulously put together - amazing detail. This place is a gem for the Cleveland area!
$12 admission for age 1 and over is a bit much , particularly for large family. My 2 year old had fun. The facility is beautifully made for kids under 12. Grand opening they were offering admission going towards membership. We could not pass on taking $48 off of $120 family of 6, year pass. They are adding more this year and it is already a great facility for young kids even or especially toddlers.
I love that in Adventure City they not only get a ton of physical activity, but they're both using their imaginations and collaborating with new friends in the Farmer's Market, Clinic and Garage, as they make up all sorts of games and scenarios with kids they meet during our visits.
The new Children's Museum of Cleveland is as beautiful as it is fun and innovative. My children have been there multiple times now and they continue to ask me when our next visit will be. It's one of very few places where parents and children can all have an incredible time together because everyone's comfort has been considered -- it's a beautiful, clean, one-of-a-kind space where I know my kids are safe and happy, and where our entire family can have fun together.
We went the Tuesday after opening day. Maybe we should have waited. The museum has 3 exhibits that aren't completed. The best part was the Water Room. Also disappointed that it was a full charge; maybe should have considered a discounted rate as a "soft" opening especially since the museum isn't completed. Something to consider: the water room can be a small space for the amount of children that were in there. I noticed that the older kids, in their excitement, do not tend to watch out for the little ones and since it can be a slick environment, it can be a great hazard in there with the running and splashing water. It would have been awesome if the room was divided (water tables for toddlers on one side) and the other side have age 4 or 5 on up. As I personally see this as the most popular exhibit out of what's available currently. Lastly, the dollhouse exhibit on the upper level should be reconsidered. Its not as if the children could play with them or if the dolls/pieces moved. It was as if that exhibit was just a space filler. There was also a step ladder in one of the rooms where kids could step on to view a dollhouse but it was not bolted down and a child had fell heavily on it. Please remove or bolt down.
We've visited a lot of children's museums. This is definitely one of if not the smallest we've been to. With that being said, the main exhibits they have, Wonder Lab and the adventure area (on the lower level) were some of the best, most interactive play areas we've seen. Our 1 1/2 year old and 9 year old loved them, although prime age to really play is probably 3-7. The art area was nice and looks like they probably do some fun projects there. The miniature exhibit was just eh. It looks like they are working on some more "coming soon" exhibits. There is no concession except a vending machine so I wish I had known we could pack our own lunch. The reason I gave it 4 stars is I don't think it's completely worth the minimum $24 (adult and child entrance are both $12) it takes to enter, yet alone $48 for a family. Once the new exhibits open up it could be worth it but then I'm guessing they'll raise the cost.
