This is good for a quiet visit in an urban area of an early Cleveland cemetery. If visiting the cemetery, you can park on the grounds. Great birding.
A nice quite, walk through the trees downtown. It's a very nice cemetery with some very interesting stones: makes for an old, beautiful feature in a developing city.
This cemetery breaks up downtown Cleveland from something bustling and gross, to something more serene. The straight drive canopied by large trees helps create that feel. However, it feels unsafe to be here, and several headstones are sadly broken or toppled over. Still it provides an easy cut through from parking/theatre district to the baseball stadium.
Went for the first time yesterday. The gate is beautiful and some of the head stones were gorgeous but I was so overwhelmed by the urine and feces smells that we had to get out of there. There were three homeless men hanging around the gate and I believe that this is their home. There was deodorant, nasty old socks, empty cans and food containers, and endless garbage. So many headstones were broken and fallen over. It was very sad how this cemetery is being taken care of.
Absolutely beautiful to visit. It's a historic oasis in a concert jungle. I have visited this cemetery every time I have come to Cleveland....I HAVE TO SAY I'M APPALLED AND HEARTBROKEN AFTER VISITING TODAY AND SEEING THE COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL , IRREVERSIBLE AND COMPLETELY UNFORGIVABLE VANDALISM!
